“The enemy has come to steal, kill and destroy but I have come that they may have life in abundance.” John 10:10

MY PHILOSOPHY

My passion is to build a safe counseling environment for people who are frightened, burdened and in search of hope. I place great importance in establishing trust through the bond of authentic therapeutic relationship. I welcome the challenge of emotional brokenness and extreme relational crisis. I only require a desire to seek wholeness through a willingness to step out of the client’s comfort zone as they seek different pathways to wellness and abundance.

MY GOAL

My goal is to integrate the wealth of wisdom present in scripture with the principles of professional counseling to seek effective tools to seek freedom to transform hope filled lives. While I am influenced by my faith, I am a respecter of all beliefs about spiritual matters.

Meet Patrick Callahan

I am blessed to be part of a family of service providers who has dedicated their lives to serving the needs of others. My wife of 38 years apprenticed with the Child Protection Team and Children’s Home Society before launching her Christian Counseling and Life Coaching private practice. My grown children include a daughter who has excelled as an elementary school teacher, another daughter who recently launched a private practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist, and a son who is fully licensed as a Doctor of Chiropractic. My own journey has included a long-term career as a public servant in mental health administration, police administration, and senior administrator for the court system. I have known the loneliness as a young professional of seeking God’s purpose for my life while serving in roles that I knew to be foundational for finding my passion. My diligence and perseverance were rewarded as I was asked to join the pastoral staff of The Family Church in Gainesville. In this role, I discovered and developed a deep interest in helping people work through crises and life challenges through pastoral counseling. With my wife as my greatest encourager and cheerleader, I completed my credential as a Professional Mental Health Counselor.

I approach each day with passion and purpose. It is a privilege to join couples to seek equilibrium in marital crisis and walk with them to suggest tools that can lead to abundant life marriage. I have been greatly influenced by the research and state-of-the-art marriage therapy approach of Drs. John and Julie Gottman as well as Emotion Focused Therapy pioneered by Dr. Susan Johnson. I seek Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic approaches with many of my clients who report symptoms related to depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and lack of life purpose. I am humbled that people allow me to establish an environment of trust and experience a safe haven to seek grace-based therapy focused on hope and healing.
